Scotty was born and raised in Los Angeles. A bit shy and reserved when he was young, he had been eyeing the drums since he was 9 years old. Finally, at 13, he was encouraged by his mother to play drums in the school orchestra. He quickly excelled on the kit, developing an eclectic style by playing many genres of music including Rock, Jazz, Country, Latin, R&B and Blues throughout high school. He paid no attention to the style of music he listened to, it just had to be good!
At 18, he began playing professionally with bands sneaking him into bars. A couple of years later he landed the gig with surf-punk legends, Agent Orange, touring throughout the world. He went on to play with a slew of notable artists and productions such as The Los Angeles Lakers, Disney’s “Eureka Parade”, Capitol Record’s 1000 Clowns, Dreamworks Record’s Forest for the Trees, soap opera star Jack Wagner, The Surfaris and legendary country artists and songwriters Al Bruno and Darrell Scott. In the studio he's worked with several renowned producers including: Ric Wake, Eric “ET” Thorngren, and Rudy Haeusermann. He's had television appearances on Ally McBeal, MTV and various independent films, as well as performing in a variety of musicals including Madison Mason's Off-Broadway production "Howlin at the Moon”, and Rick Batalla’s original production “Blake...da Musical”. In addition to his busy schedule playing drums, he has produced for various artists as well as co-written/produced several commercial spots, television themes and film soundtracks out of his studio in North Hollywood.
Scotty credits his ability to adapt to any situation due to his appreciation for all styles of music. This was key for Stonehoney when they approached him after they all backed up his old friend Dave Phenicie on a solo gig at Hollywood’s legendary Molly Malone’s. “That show was magic”, says Scotty, “it was all smiles on stage from the first downbeat! When they called me after the gig to join the band, I dove right in!!”
