Dave grew up in the Washington D.C. area and played just about every club in Maryland and Virginia during the 80's.He also played many different styles of music; blues, jazz, hard rock, country and even Orchestral. In the late 80's his blues rock band, Idlewild, became a big draw and Dave started his songwriting career.
In the early 90's, Dave relocated to Los Angeles and became the frontman for a band called Smith House Rag (later The Enditalls). When the band split-up in the mid 90's,he started doing session work and playing bass and singing with the country rock band, The Lazy Stars. Dave and lead singer, Jonny Kaplan, helped friends Shilah Morrow, Bryson Jones and Dusty Wakeman start The Sweethearts of the Rodeo show that gathered together all the great country bands in Los Angeles. During this time Dave performed with artists such as Eddie Money, Lucinda Williams, Dwight Yoakam and opened for Wilco and The Dead. In 2003 he joined Shurman, got signed to Vanguard and toured with Blues Traveller, The Jayhawks, and other alt-country bands.
In 2005, Dave returned to L.A. to focus on making his first solo album. Shilah had begun her own company, Sin City, and had Dave host the Sin City Social Club which again featured all the best Los Angeles performers, as well as Nashville guests like Jim Lauderdale and Daryl Scott. The show lasted a little over a year and during that time he completed "Long, Lonely Time" his solo debut. Stonehoney came calling just as he was ready to start touring again but this new band was too good to pass up.
